RECLAIMING THE NARRATIVE
The Black Fatherhood Photo Project was birthed out of a desire to empower and uplift the positive image of African-American men so often left out of mainstream media. African American fathers have long been stereotyped as being absent in their children’s lives. But a recent Center for Disease Control and Prevention report on father-child involvement, found that Black fathers are more involved than Latino, white and other fathers.
It is my desire to select 20 fathers in the St. Louis region for the initial cohort, and display these pictures in a local gallery. I am only charging these fathers $8.46 for the session, normally $250. I cannot do this work alone, and will need your support. Please consider a donation to help me with gallery rental space, photo print enlargements, photography equipment, and editing! You can use the link below to make a donation.
